A regional utility company needed to pass its annual security assessment to comply with government regulations for the energy/utility industry. With dozens of locations throughout the Atlanta area, the project was large in scope.
The company selected Anova IT for its month-long security assessment. The Anova IT technology assessment program took a “snapshot” of the utility company’s current security infrastructure to leverage existing assets and plan for future needs.
Anova IT performed specific test and analysis on potential security vulnerabilities, including: firewall rulebase weaknesses, missing patches, directory traversal and enumerations, as well as permissions testing and cross-site scripting. The project also included external security testing that included testing the security cameras at each physical location.
Working with utility’s IT staff, Anova IT was able to identify network segments, hosts and applications to be tested and addressed. Its final assessment results provided specific vulnerabilities, details on what can happen if the vulnerabilities are exposed and recommendations on how fix its security infrastructure.
Because of Anova IT’s detailed assessment, the utility company was able to address all security issues that needed to rectified or improved upon based on Anova IT’s recommendations. Additionally, Anova IT provided them with both internal and external solutions to achieve compliance.
